Joseph Mallon has been successfully litigating employment discrimination, civil rights,
personal injury and medical malpractice cases for more than 18 years. He is one of Baltimore’s
leading trial attorneys, and he has been lead counsel in more than 60 civil trials before juries
and judges in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
In the employment area, Mr. Mallon represents a diverse clientele, including
victims of discrimination, executives negotiating contracts or severance packages and corporations
dealing with workplace misconduct and other compliance issues. Mr. Mallon was lead counsel for a
police sergeant in a federal civil rights lawsuit that led to the resignation of Baltimore’s top police
official. The Baltimore Sun reported that Mr. Mallon advanced “precise legal arguments” on behalf of
his client, and the federal judge presiding over the case opined that Mr. Mallon obtained
“extraordinary results.” Mr. Mallon was also the lead counsel in a disability discrimination case
that resulted in what is widely believed to be the largest recovery of its kind in Maryland.
Recently, Mr. Mallon has successfully represented companies targeted by Maryland state agencies
investigating allegations of officer, director, trustee and employee misconduct. Mr. Mallon has
established or revised compliance programs for these and other companies. Mr. Mallon has also negotiated
contracts and confidential severance packages for executives of Fortune 500 corporations and government
officials. Recently, he negotiated a severance package for an officer of a Fortune 100 company and
secured the reinstatement of a high ranking federal government official.

Mr. Mallon has secured tens of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients.
He successfully represented the victims of a catastrophic train collision in a wrongful death lawsuit,
he obtained a large settlement in a wrongful death case against the Washington Metropolitan Area
Transit Authority, and, recently, he obtained a $1.4 Million settlement for a client injured by a
negligent motorist. Because of the nature of Mr. Mallon’s representations, the details of his many
successful outcomes remain confidential.
Based on his professional achievement, Mr. Mallon has been voted by his peers as a Super Lawyer
in general civil litigation for 2009 and 2010. Mr. Mallon is a leader and the past President of the
J. Dudley Digges Inn of Court. He has frequently been invited to lecture at legal seminars for
professional associations. Mr. Mallon previously served as Co-Chair of the American Bar Association,
Litigation Section’s Standing Committee on Solo and Small Firms.
